Applicant/Principal Frequently Asked Questions
I need to obtain a bond. How can I do that? CNA Surety does not write business directly with the public; instead, we write our bonds through licensed independent insurance agents. If you have an insurance agent, we suggest you contact them to determine if they represent our Company and can submit an application on your behalf. If they are unable to assist you, or if are not familiar with any of the insurance agents in your area, we recommend using the Agency Locator on the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America web site or consulting your local yellow pages for insurance agents advertising bonding. I am a principal/insured and I have a bond/policy with your Company and I need another bond/policy. What do I need to do to get another bond/policy? CNA Surety does not write business directly with the public; instead, we work through licensed independent insurance agents. We suggest you contact the insurance agent that handled your first bond/policy or your current insurance agent. If that is not possible, or they are not appointed with CNA Surety, we recommend using the Agency Locator on the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America web site or consulting your local yellow pages for independent insurance agents that advertise bonding. I am a principal/insured and I obtained a bond/policy from CNA Surety, but I no longer need the bond/policy. What do I need to do to cancel the bond/policy? If you still have the original bond/policy in your possession, write "Cancel" directly on the bond/policy and return it to the insurance agent from whom you purchased the bond/policy, or you can return it direct to CNA Surety at: PO Box 5077, Sioux Falls, SD 57117-5077. If you no longer have the original bond/policy, or if it has already been filed with an obligee, submit a request in writing to the insurance agent from whom you purchased the bond/policy to have the bond/policy canceled. Please note that in some cases, you may be required to obtain a release from the obligee before your bond can be canceled. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact our Underwriting Services Associates at 1-800-331-6053. I have been asked by CNA Surety to obtain proper indemnity for a bond. Do you have guidelines that show how an application must be signed to provide proper indemnity? Yes, please refer to the Guidelines for Completing and Signing a Form 10 Application for Bond-Any Kind and Form 10-E Easy Application. I am a principal/insured and I received a renewal invoice the reads Notice of Premium due, but I did not receive a renewal bond/policy. Why did I not receive my renewal bond/policy? We do not send out a renewal bond/policy/continuation certificate until your renewal premium is paid. Once we receive your renewal payment, your renewal bond/policy/continuation certificate will be sent to you to file with the obligee on the bond if necessary. I am a principal on a CNA Surety bond and received a collection notice. Who can I contact about this and where should I send my payment? The collection notice you received should include the appropriate contact information. If you no longer have your collection notice, you can contact CNA Surety Collections at 312-822-5000. I am a principal/insured and I need a paid receipt relating to my payment. Can you provide me with a paid receipt? If CNA Surety sent you a bill directly for your bond and you made your payment directly to our Company, we can provide you with a paid receipt – either call 1-800-331-6053 to request the receipt or email your request to: info@cnasurety.com. If, however, your agent sent you a bill for your bond and you paid your agent, you need to contact your agent for a paid receipt.
